Steady as he goes

I was showing my boys a freshly hatched monarch butterfly. Young Tom was amazed and said, “What are you going to do with it now, Dad?” I said I was going to take it outside and put it on the tree where it could dry its wings. Tom told me in a very solemn voice, “You be careful walking down those stairs Dad, don’t trip over and squash the butterfly.” I thought, ‘Don’t worry about the old man, but keep an eye on the butterfly!’
