I am a Kiwi living in Australia and I teach kindergarten children. One day last week I was teaching a small group to write and learn the word “can”. I asked one small boy, “Now what is that word?” He said,
“That’s Barbie’s boyfriend.” I was puzzled for a second then realised it was my Kiwi accent! He thought I was saying Ken. How I laughed. What am I doing to those Aussie kids!
