Ways to avoid it:
• Learn to lift heavy items properly. Bend from the knees – never the back – and don’t twist.
• Improve your posture. When you are at a desk, be aware of how you are sitting and try not to slump.
• Strengthen your back muscles by working out. Consult a fitness expert to make sure you are exercising properly.
