Knowing that many nutrients are involved in brain and hormone function, scientists have been researching the link between food and mood. Several studies have demonstrated a relationship between depression and the consumption of refined sugar and caffeine. To enhance your mood, try following these golden rules for the next ten days.

  1. Eat wholefoods. Cut out processed foods entirely if possible. 2. Get fruity with at least five servings of fruit and vegetables per day. 3. Serve fish at least twice a week. 4. Use cold-pressed seed oils such as flax seed and sesame oil. 5. Hard but necessary – cut out sugar and saturated fats. 6. Get protein and carbohydrates working together in your diet. Eat nuts and seeds with cereals and fruit, or eat fish, beans, eggs, or lentils with starchy foods such as bread or rice.
