Come winter, we have one rule for our wardrobes: if we find knitwear that combines comfort, warmth, and style, we’re getting it in every colour. Because if there’s one thing that makes us feel better about the end of spritz season, it’s a snuggly new cable knit cardigan or chunky sweater.

Whether you’re staying warm in sheep’s wool or opting for alpaca, quality knitwear is essential for combating the winter chill.

The cosy (and chic) new knitwear to see you through winter

Editor’s tip: oversized jumpers can add bulk when layering, so try tucking them into belted pants for some more shape.

Which is the best material for knitwear?

The best material for knitwear depends entirely on budget, but try to aim for even a small percentage of wool for warmth and durability. If you can afford it, cashmere is a luxurious and ultra-soft fibre derived from cashmere goats. It’s warm, lightweight, and durable, making it a great investment piece. We’re also big fans of alpaca wool, which used to be expensive but is becoming more mainstream. This warm and soft alternative to cashmere is also hypoallergenic and less prone to pilling.
