What is Afterpay Day?
Afterpay Day is a four-day shopping event, both online and in-store, that takes place twice a year. According to afterpay.com, the event features 1000s of brands dropping up to 70 per cent off. The event is hosted in New Zealand and Australia by buy-now-pay-later platform Afterpay.

Is it worth waiting till the Afterpay Day sales to make a purchase?
Insights from Afterpay data during the 15–18 August 2025 Afterpay Day sale period showed that 45% of New Zealanders wait for discounts before purchasing big-ticket items. That figure rose to 61% among high spenders, highlighting a growing tendency for shoppers to plan larger purchases around major sale events.
In fact, during the same 15–18 August 2025 Afterpay Day sale period, Afterpay’s internal data revealed that customers across Australia and New Zealand placed more than 2.45 million orders in a single weekend – equivalent to five orders every second. This momentum has helped cement Afterpay Day as Australia’s third-largest retail sales event, behind only Black Friday and Boxing Day.
What date is Afterpay Day 2026?
Afterpay Day, the highly anticipated sales event held twice a year in March and August, will return for its second sale of 2026 from Thursday, 13 August, to Sunday, 17 August.
Do I need to use Afterpay to shop the sale?
Although Afterpay hosts the event, you don’t need to use its platform to access the deals. You can shop and pay however you prefer.
