GRoWN-UPS are heaving a huge sigh of relief that fashion has tired of the Eighties and found another decade to plunder.
This season, fuelled by the cool image of oad oen, designers at Prada, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Bottega Veneta sent the trend time machine back to the 1950s.
Full skirts, cinched-in waists, womanly curves and accessories are set to take centre stage. But while Fifties fashions are fabulous for flattering the female form, there are still a few pitfalls.
First, look at the length of your prom-style dress. when it comes to a longer hemline, consider the area from around an inch below the knee to an inch off the floor as a no-go zone, as very few of us can pull it off.
The most flattering styles sit on, or just below, the knee.
And don’t go too tight. A cinched waist is one thing; a chest that looks like it strying to escape a straitjacket is another.
Bigger-busted women should opt for looser, draped V-necks, while flat-chested females can seek out high-necked dresses.
