Live television is an unpredictable thing – but no one was expecting this popular magic trick to go so wrong.
Footage from Question for Breakfast, a TV show in Poland, shows the moment host Marzena Rogalska accidentally impales her hand when taking part in a live magic trick.
Rogalska, 46, follows the lead of a professional magician, who performed the same trick to earn a place in the semi-finals of Poland’s Got Talent.
In the trick, the magician hides a large spike underneath one of four paper bags, before slamming his – or in this case the TV host’s – hand down on them one-by-one.

The aim is to leave the spike until last, however this time, the stunt failed when Rogalska chose the wrong bag, and ended up screaming in agony as the spike pierced her right hand.
The daytime TV host was taken to hospital and did not appear back on screen during the show.
She later reassured fans that she was fine, writing on Facebook: “Thank you for your support. I’m alive. Everything will be fine”.
