These bath salts make a great gift for friends and family this Christmas.
Make your own bath salts

You’ll feel like an Egyptian princess when you bathe with these bath salts. If they’re packaged in mini milk bottles and finished with pretty ribbon, they also make a beautiful and thrifty gift.

What you need:

  • 4 cups Epsom salts

  • 2 cups milk powder

  • Pink food colouring

  • Rose essential oil

  • Dried rose petals or rosebuds

  • Mini milk bottles (or jars) with lids

  • Ribbon and labels

All the materials you need to make these pretty gifts.

Instructions:

  1. Put the Epsom salts and milk powder in a large bowl. Stir well, then add a few drops of food colouring.

  2. Work the colouring into the salts with your hands – it may take a wee while to get an even colour, so keep at it!

  3. Add a few drops of rose oil and stir well. Depending on how strong your oil is, you may have to add a bit more to get the scent you prefer.

  4. Stir in rosebuds or petals, then transfer to mini milk bottles or jars.

  5. Screw the lids on tightly, then add a pretty ribbon and label. You may also want to add instructions to the label. For example, “Add a generous handful to a running bath and stir well.”
