A relative recently brought us a jar of salted caramel sauce from the UK. Now,I want to make my own. I found a recipe with four ingredients: butter, sugar, salt and “heavy” cream. I looked at the supermarket, but none of the bottles had the word “heavy” on them.
In the US, what we just call normal full-fat cream is known as heavy cream. So, get back to the supermarket and pick up your cream! This sauce should keep for a month in the fridge, but I doubt you’ll have any left over – the mix of sweet and savoury flavours is utterly irresistible.
