What we eat can affect our emotions.
Treats such as chocolate and sugary, carbonated drinks can have a negative effect on your mood as they give you a short energy burst, followed by a slump and, quite often, feelings of guilt. However, there is a solution!
Some foods can acually stimulate feel-good chemicals in the brain and make you happier. They contain a substance called tryptophan, which produces the naturally occurring chemical serotonin in the brain. Some good food mood boosters are chicken, turkey, fish, bananas, pineapples, plums, eggs, nuts, avocados, cheese, cottage cheese, milk, beans, peas, oats, garlic, chilli and soya, as they all help to boost the production of serotonin in your brain.
