Twice yearly, New York Fashion Week (NYFW) descends on the metropolitan city, and with it comes a swarm of stylish fashion show guests incorporating the latest trends into their show-stopping outfits.
This September it is clear that pink is still on every fashionable woman’s radar, for a playful take on in-vogue silhouettes, including slouchy suiting, trench coats with a twist and fun sun dresses.
But a new statement colour is also on the rise. A new crop of canary yellow garments, most noticeably in both knitted sweaters and light-weight tops, hints that this will be the next ‘it’ colour to invest in for summer.
Patterns are ever-popular for street stylers and these make the most impact when worn in a full-length gown, paired with clashing prints or with boldly coloured accessories.
A more demure pattern having its day in the sun is tartan. In brown, blue, grey or red, tartan is mostly seen in suiting, be that a cropped pant suit or sweet skirt and blazer combo, as well as tunic dresses. It looks particularly fresh when teamed with a billowing white blouse.
