What is Moana 2 about
Set three years after the events of Moana, Moana 2 follows Moana reuniting with the demigod Maui and assembling a wayfinding crew to find the lost island of Motufetu, break its curse, and reconnect the people of the ocean.
Just as in the first, there are some bangers in the soundtrack, including ‘Auli’i Cravalho – Beyond’ and ‘Can I get a Chee Hoo?’.
During its release, Moana 2 earned $1.05 billion worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2024. It was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
Who stars in Moana 2?
Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their roles from the original film as Moana and Maui. New Zealand comedian Rose Matafeo also stars, along with Jermaine Clement and Temuera Morrison.
Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Nicole Sheringer also star. Some of Dwayne Johnson’s family members have voice roles in the film including daughters Jasmine and Tiana as members of Moana’s fan club “MOANA-BE’s”, and his mother Ata Maivia Johnson as a villager.
