Footage of terrified employees marching through the Inland Regional Center with their hands up is inspiring the globe.
In the tense video, the employees are clearly distressed and fearful of their lives. A brave San Bernardino police officer tries to keep them calm and protect them from harm.
“Try to relax, everyone. Try to relax. I’ll take a bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure,” said the officer.
The heroic police officer is unidentified at this point, but he is receiving accolades on social media for his courage.
The footage was taken by Gabi Flores, a services worker inside the building.
The employees had been in hiding in the Center for some time since Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his wife Tashfeen Malik, 27, opened fire. The police officer was tasked with getting them to safety, while on alert for the armed pair who were thought to still be inside and ready to strike again.
14 people lost their lives in the attack and a further 17 were wounded.
