The world stands divided. There are those of us who get up and make our beds religiously every morning, and those of us who leave it a heaped mess – much to the annoyance of our partners/roommates/parents.
But now one highly decorated Navy Seal has highlighted the importance of this small task in setting the mind up for a day of success.
William McRaven is a highly decorated Admiral who most famously led Operation Neptune Spear -that successfully found and killed Osama Bin Laden in May 2011.
And the Admiral says something he learnt during his first few months as a member of the military has always stayed with him.
“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day,” explains McRaven.
“It will give you a small sense of pride, and will encourage you to do another task, and another and another.
“Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to get the big things right.”
And take it from this guy, because he for one has certainly accomplished them.
