An Adidas advert promoting the iconic Originals sneakers is taking the internet by storm, but not for the reasons you’d think.
Swedish model Arvida Byström has received abuse and rape threats following her feature in the ad, all due to having hair on her legs.
Byström posted to her Instagram after the release of the picture, informing her following of the amount of hate and threats she had received.
“My photo from the Adidasoriginals superstar campaign got a lot of nasty comments last week. Me being such an abled, white, cis body with its only nonconforming feature being a lil leg hair,” she wrote.

“Literally I’ve been getting rape threats in my DM inbox.”
However she ended her post on a more positive note.
“Sending love and try to remember that not everybody has the same experiences being a person.”
“Also thanks for all the love got a lot of that too,” she said.
The model’s fans responded with encouragement, applauding her for pushing gender norms.
@arvidabystrom Thank you for pushing the norm on how women are asked to represent themselves. You make a difference. https://t.co/C0tca2crDN
