Dear Wendyl,
My sister married a really rich man about a year ago. We were all amazed that she hooked him, but he seems besotted and she is living a life of luxury with holidays and flash houses. But she is now treating us like poor relations. At Christmas she introduced us to her new friends as, “My funny little farming family.” Well, we weren’t that funny when she had to live with us because she was kicked out of home by her previous husband!
It makes me mad that she treats us like dirt. Any ideas?

Dear Lorraine,
When people behave like this it is because they are insecure and unhappy. So next time she uses alliteration when referring to you, just say to
yourself, “What a deeply unhappy person you must be to treat us like that.”
Distance yourself, but don’t put up with that treatment. Leave her to her pretentions and be safe in the knowledge that you and your family have all
the riches anyone needs – called love and a good life.**
