Fortune hunting

Seeking information from a tarot card reader is all well and good, but it should never be taken too seriously – especially if it is putting your friendship at risk.

Dear Wendyl, My friend and I recently went to see a tarot card reader. It was a bit of fun and she had come highly recommended. She took us separately and I went first. My reading went well. There were some surprises, but I felt fine afterwards. Then my friend went in. When she came out, she was acting very strangely around me and kept saying, “Are you OK?” and being really quiet and looking at me sideways. I thought we’d go out and have a few drinks afterwards, but she said she just wanted to go home and have an early night. I think the tarot card lady told her something about me and now I’m really worried. Should I ask my friend what happened?

Scary, via email

Dear Scary, Oh my goodness – it’s tarot cards, not the end of the world. For a start, I don’t know many tarot card readers, but what I do know is that they don’t usually read on behalf of others. I doubt very much that she read your cards in front of your friend, so let’s dispense with that theory.

And while we’re at it, let’s close down your wild and vivid imagination and ignore what happened. Take it that your friend perhaps heard something which surprised her, but it is her information and private. Give her a call, head out for that drink and put this behind you.
