Zoe Hallahan admits, “I was always terrified of colour.” But when she and her husband bought their home in Auckland, it was in serious need of a do-up, which only several cans of Resene paint could provide.
The first room the pair painted was the main bedroom, selecting Resene SpaceCote in Resene Spanish Green. “It fitted my search for a calming colour perfectly,” says Zoe. “After that, I was hooked on colour.”
The couple then painted the built-in ledge and custom wardrobe in Resene SpaceCote in Resene Green Meets Blue, as they love “tone on tone”, to complete the space.
During lockdown, Zoe was pregnant with baby Bonnie and “nesting took on another level”. They painted her nursery in Resene SpaceCote in Resene Blanched Pink from the Karen Walker Paints collection and repurposed some wall shelves with a fresh coat of Resene SpaceCote in Resene Destiny. Having spotted a plum-coloured kitchen on Pinterest, Zoe was sold. The cabinetry was repainted in Resene SpaceCote in Resene Cab Sav, which was “fitting for us wine lovers” and pairs nicely with the recently installed marble benchtop. Finally, the family bathroom was given a refresh with Resene SpaceCote in Resene Wafer.
“Our little bathroom was missing some pizzazz and after searching for the perfect dirty pink, I found the beautiful Resene Wafer,” Zoe says.
“One of my favourite things about these colours is how they all look so different but so beautiful at different times of the day. We love our home and love how colour has helped us bring it to life.”
