Taming thick hair

I have unbelievably thick hair. I cant do anything with it. I have been wearing my hair the same way for seven years. Any ideas on what i could do to it, so I can wear it down and it will look nice?

I turned to Ashlee Coombes, award-winning hairdresser of Ainsleys Salon in Auckland for expert advice on this one. Coombes recommends gaining control of your rebellious hair by having a really good haircut to create shape and by caring for the hair with Loréal Professionnels Liss Ultime range that promotes shine and manageability.

“Ideally a good cut with a good amount of texturising and layers will remove ‘bulk from the hair to create a sleeker silhouette,” says Coombes.

You can add interest to hair with colour. Soft caramels and blondes work well with thicker hair. A bob shape is very now and you can still have enough hair to put up in summer. If you are wearing your hair down try styling hair with a smoothing balm and straighteners. Try Loréal Professionnel Liss Ultime Thermo Smoothing oil, $28, to create that sleek, healthy look. You can also help your hair when you are asleep. Try Liss Ultime Night 125, $30, which leaves hair nourished, relaxed and easy to style for the day ahead. Good luck with your new hairstyle.
