I love all the pretty blushers that are out for winter but I have a fear of looking doll-like after I apply them. What are the rules for using blusher correctly?

There are no hard and fast rules but the best technique is to smile at the mirror and while doing so, apply the blusher to the round part of your cheeks. Be sure to blend it well to avoid the “spot of colour” look. You can also sweep it up the line of your cheekbones.
