Beach holiday basics

My boyfirend is taking me on a tropical island holiday and for once I don’t want to be the typical over-packed female. What do you think are the basic holiday essentials for a week by the sea?

If you are going on a beach holiday somewhere hot, start with your swimwear, as that is what you’ll be wearing most of the time. Pack two swimsuits and a few matching sarongs, tops and tunics to transform them into outfits. A sundress can be very useful too.

Take a pair of flip-flops and a pretty pair of sandals, plus the essential shades and hat.

Finally, pack one versitile outfit, such as linen trousers and a cotton, long-sleeved top that you can wear for shopping or museum visits in air conditioned buildings.
