As Kiwis, we love going on holiday but for many of us, packing for the trip can be a real pain.
Fear of being inadequately prepared can push you into making irrational last-minute decisions. “I’ll take this just in case” and “I’ll throw in an extra…” can lead to unnecessary overload – and one very heavy bag!
To keep your back pain-free this summer, check out these top tips:
The basicsYou can’t leave without a good range of T-shirts and singlets, shorts, pants and your favourite pair of jeans because you never know what weather a Kiwi summer will serve you. Keep clothes loose-fitting and choose practical colours for comfort and easy care – you don’t want to be hand-washing your whites every day.
**Day to night
**Halve your load by picking pieces that will make an easy transition from day to night. For instance, a bright ruffled skirt will look cute with a pair of flip-flops during the day or glam with jewelled sandals at night.
**Sun safety
**Clothes to cover up in the sun are essential for your skin’s protection. Kaftans, sarongs and sunnies give you a chance to have fun with colour and they roll up to save space in your bag.
Fab fabrics Cotton is a girl’s best friend – it’ll keep you from feeling hot, sticky and uncomfortable. It’s also great to choose clothing that is pre-creased. Luckily they’re a top trend this season and, even better, you’ll have no need for an iron!
Shoe sense This may be hard for some of you to come to grips with: you only need to pack three pairs of shoes. Take a pair of flip-flops for casual and beach wear, a pair of trainers suitable for walking and a pair of strappy sandals or heels for smart-casual and evening wear.
