We’re headed back to the future with the return of Futurama

Season 11 is finally here

Futuristic animated series Futurama is making a grand comeback in 2023 with another season after a 10-year hiatus that left fans wanting more.

The 10 all-new episodes of season 11 are finally here, and promise to have something for everyone. Fans can also be rest assured that the sci fi’s full original cast and satirical spirit remain intact.

“New viewers will be able to pick up the series from here, while long-time fans will recognise payoffs to decades-long mysteries,” the synopsis reads.

The new season sees developments in the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the mysterious contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy’s tadpoles.

“Meanwhile there’s a whole new pandemic in town as the crew explores the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture, and streaming TV.”

What happened at the end of Futurama season 10?

The last time we saw the crew was after Professor Farnsworth invented a ‘time button’ that sends the entire universe (minus the person who pushed the button) back in time by ten seconds.

Naturally, things went sideways with the button accidentally destroyed by Fry – leaving the entire universe frozen in time except for him and Leela.

The season ended with Fry and Leela getting married and growing old together, before the Professor built a device that sends them back in time without their memories.

As for the rest of the crew, they were all frozen in time so their fate is still very much in the air. We’ll just have to watch and see…
