Since her performance in the erotic thriller Babygirl, fans have been waiting for the next movie from Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman. Answering our prayers is Holland, a psychological thriller that premiered earlier this year at the South by Southwest Festival earlier this year.
Directed by American filmmaker Mimi Cave, Deadline describes Holland as “a beautifully composed portrait of the claustrophobia of suburbia and the darkness simmering underneath the niceties of the Midwest”.

What is the movie Holland about?
Holland is a twisted tale starring Australian actress Nicole Kidman as Nancy “Nance” Vandergroot, a teacher and homemaker who appears to lead a stereotypical middle-class life in the quiet midwestern town of Holland, Michigan. She shares her home with her husband, Fred, and their bratty 13-year-old son, Harry.
However, behind the facade of the Vandergroots’ seemingly perfect life, Nancy suspects something is amiss with Fred’s constant comings and goings. Despite his efforts to gaslight her into believing everything is fine, Nancy’s doubts grow. Meanwhile, she begins an affair with a colleague, Dave, and together, they discover that Fred is not the devoted family man he claims to be.
Who stars in the movie Holland?
Nicole Kidman takes on the lead role as Nancy Vandergroot. According to director Mimi Cave, the character took inspiration from Kidman’s performance as Suzanne Stone Maretto in the 1995 black comedy To Die For.
Joining Kidman is Matthew Macfayden (Succession) as Fred, the seemingly perfect husband, and Jude Hill (Belfast) as their teenage son Harry.
Mexican actor Gael García Bernal portrays Nancy’s fellow teacher and confidant, Dave Delgado.
The Holland cast also stars Jeff Pope, Issac Krasner, Lennon Parham, Rachel Sennott and Jacob Moran.
