The New Zealand Paralympic team did us proud in London.

They came, they saw, they conquered. New Zealand’s Paralympic athletes put on a sensational display in London, bringing home a near-record number of medals.

Showing incredible determination, strength and tenacity, the New Zealanders stunned the world with their incredible results, despite the team of 24 being the smallest Kiwi contingent for 20 years.

Multiple medals and world records from golden girls Sophie Pascoe, Phillipa Gray and Laura Thompson anchored New Zealand’s strong performance, as well as silvers and a bronze from Mary Fisher and a gold plus a world record from Cameron Leslie in the pool.

The athletes will be arriving home this week, and Sophie has already said she is looking forward to a junk-food binge. They’ve worked incredibly hard for their results, so congratulations to all of our Paralympic athletes for a job well done!
