Tennis star Serena Williams made headlines around the world when she announced her engagement just hours after landing in Auckland for the ASB Classic tournament.
Now, the World No 2 has given fans a cheeky “sneak peek” of the engagement ring given to her by fiance, Alexis Ohanian.
“Sneak peek. It was a corn tortilla of course in case you were wondering,” she joked on Instagram.
Touted as the world’s highest paid sportswoman, Williams broke the news of her up-coming wedding on social media forum Reddit – which just happened to be co-founded by her new fiance, Ohanian.
In a post she called “I Said Yes”, Williams, 35, replayed the details of their engagement in the form of a poem.
“I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me and a carriage awaited. Destination: Rome,” she wrote.
She continued, saying the Italian city was where the pair first met, and where Ohanian, 33, popped the question:

While Williams made her first on-court appearance at the tournament on Tuesday, she and Ohanian – who traveled to New Zealand with her – made sure to explore Auckland, posting videos to social media along the way.
The tennis ace has been media shy since announcing her engagement, but her sister Venus has told reporters she is “ready, willing and able” to step up to bridesmaid duties, whenever she is needed.
