From his baby mama Eva Mendes to his The Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling’s on- and off-screen romances have certainly been memorable.
As the heartthrob celebrates his 36th birthday on November 12, we’re taking a look back at some of his leading ladies over the years.

Sandra Bullock
After the pair met on set of the 2002 film “Murder by Numbers”, Sandra and Ryan Gosling dated for around a year. Sandra is one of two ladies on this list who also dated Ryan Reynolds…

Summer Phoenix
In 2001, Joaquin Phoenix’s sister starred with Ryan in The Believer. She is now married to Ben Affleck’s little brother, Casey Affleck!

Kat Dennings
The 2 Broke Girls star and Ryan were rumoured to be dating around 2009, when a fan reportedly spotted the pair out together at Disneyland.

Michelle Williams
After they filmed Blue Valentine together in 2011, rumours of a real-life relationship between the two started flying.

Olivia Wilde
After getting cosy at the 2011 Golden Globes, the pair were seen on a date at an aquarium together (cute!). Now, of course, both are happily coupled up – Ryan with Eva and Olivia with her partner Jason Sudeikis.

Carey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan starred opposite Ryan in the 2011 movie Drive. At Comic-Con that year, the English actress joked, “My job in this film was to fall in love with Ryan Gosling—rough.”

Blake Lively
Around the time that Ryan’s film Blue Valentine was released, rumours of a relationship between him and Blake Lively started to gain steam. Today, of course, the former Gossip Girl star is happily loved up with her hubby Ryan Reynolds.

Rachel McAdams
After portraying everyone’s favourite on-screen couple in the 2002 film The Notebook, Ryan and Rachel McAdams dated until 2007. When they broke up, fans were understandably devastated.
“Women are mad at me,” said Ryan. “A girl came up to me on the street and she almost smacked me. Like, ‘How could you? How could you let a girl like that go?’ I feel like I want to give people hugs, they seem so sad. Rachel and I should be the ones getting hugs!”
He doesn’t regret The Notebook though – “It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that.” Awww!!

In a later interview, however, Ryan revealed he had no regrets doing The Notebook. “It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that,” he said.
They also won the 2005 MTV Movie awards Best Kiss for The Notebook and recreated it on stage and we aren’t at all jealous.

Emma Stone
Ryan and Emma have played each other’s love interests in three films so far – Crazy, Stupid, Love, Gangster Squad and upcoming musical La La Land – and while there’s no hint of a real-life romance, we love seeing these two together on screen!
