Heather du Plessis-Allen, who hosts Story with Duncan Garner, has been reportedly ordered off air after giving a revealing newspaper interview.
Over the weekend, the journalist told NZME she was leaving Mediaworks and quitting TV, but that she hadn’t told her co-host of her plans yet. She also revealed the pair knew the 7pm current affairs show was being axed as early as July. The announcement was only made public in November.

However, Fairfax are now reporting du Plessis-Allen has been asked to leave the show, with an email sent to Meidaworks staff stating there were “inaccuracies” in her interview.
The company’s news chief Hal Crawford said in the email that the decision to end the show was made recently, and du Plessis-Allen did not know of the move in July.
“I can confirm Heather is leaving MediaWorks. I am not requiring that she work out her notice period and therefore she will not appear on air for the remainder of Story or her Radio Live show,” he wrote.
