Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud’s own property plans have become a grand disaster.
Residents of the $8.2 million eco development backed by Kevin are complaining of faults including improper heating, air filters that spew black dust and toilets and washing machines that don’t work. One resident of the property in Swindon, called The Triangle, told the Daily Mail that although there were other parties involved, they feel let down by Kevin, who invested his own money in the project.

“We were sold a false promise. Whoever was to blame, his name was all across this,” said one resident. The construction of the 42-building estate was filmed for the UK TV show Grand Designs, but Kevin has not revisited the estate since the problems began.
“[Kevin] should come and meet us again. No-one has seen him since the show. He just disappeared and didn’t come back,” said 21-year-old Crystal Love. “The rain harvester turned my clothes yellow. They tried to fix that but then the hot water feed was too hot and it shrunk the clothes. The toilets have packed up twice and there’s a terrible smell from the sink.”

In a statement, Kevin and property development firm Haboakus said they are working on resolving the issues. “We very much regret residents have had to bear the brunt of these problems and it is a priority for all parties to ensure these are resolved as quickly as possible,” the statement read.
