The Inside Soap Awards kicked off in England last night, and it was good news for Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans.

While Coro lost out to Emmerdale for Best Soap, they made it up by winning four other awards – including Best Bad Boy for Connor McIntyre, Funniest Male from Joe Duttine, Best Newcomer for Shayne Ward, and Best Show-Stopper for the live episode that screened in the UK in 2015.

London based soap EastEnders also did well over the evening, with Barbara Windsor scopping an award as well as her on-screen son, Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell.)

Jacqueline Jossa scooped Sexiest Female, and fellow Enders star Lacey Turner won Best Actress.

Meanwhile, Aussie soap Neighbours was also highly thought of by British fans, who voted it Best Daytime Soap (it screens at lunch time in the UK) and gave Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) the Best Daytime Soap Star Award.

Olympia Valance of Neighbours was there to represent the soap.

And even Karl Kennedy flew in for the awards – picking up Best Daytime Character.

Emmerdale won Best Soap.

The Hollyoaks team await the awards eagerly.

Jacqueline Jossa wins Sexiest Female.

Kym Marsh donned a chic jumpsuit for the event.
