She’s never shied away from sharing her feelings in public, but as the one-year anniversary of her divorce nears, Nicole Kidman is now weighing up whether it’s the right time to come clean about her split from ex-husband Keith Urban.
“Nicole’s in some kind of metamorphosis and she’s working through a lot of her past issues related to both her marriages,” a family insider tells Woman’s Day.
“She’s more willing to talk about Tom [Cruise] these days as it was so long ago and she’s lived another lifetime since then, but even so, it’s been such a cathartic experience. “Having remained so rigidly quiet about such a traumatic moment in her life, it’s like a pressure valve release to finally be able to talk about it – and Nicole has every intention of doing the same with her second marriage. “She and Keith agreed they’d keep things private for a year after their split, but that time’s nearly up and she’s got open offers from all the TV networks for a tell-all interview.”
Nicole may tell all
There’s speculation that Nicole, 59, may spill the beans to Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres or even Whoopi Goldberg. There are also reports of a multimillion-dollar book deal for her divorce diaries.
Our source adds, “Up until now, things have been too raw, but a year on, she’s considering all options.”
Already, with her close friend by her side during their Practical Magic 2 press tour, Nicole has been opening up about everything from her dating dealbreakers to her insecurities. Keith, 58, was never a fan of Nicole’s tendency to overshare.
Nicole wants to clear the air
“There’s no doubt publishing her diary is a big step and she’s not sure if she wants to share such intimate details, but she’s been keeping a journal for decades with a view one day of writing about her incredible story,” reveals our insider.
“She may hold back on her divorce diaries and settle for a cushy sit-down with someone like Drew Barrymore. But in the same way she’s skimmed around the subject of Tom, she’s not going to point the finger or lay blame. “She simply wants to explain her side and wish Keith all the best. It’s a chance to clear the air, and hopefully ease the tension between her and Keith.”
For the sake of their girls, Sunday, 18, and Faith, 15, the Oscar winner wants her ex to “have a brilliant, happy and successful life”.
But a friend of Keith’s tells us, “There’s a bitterness that wasn’t there before. Keith’s writing some incredible songs, though. The angry artist is bearing fruit!”

Mum knows best!
Sharing her parenting wisdom, Nicole says, “I’m a mother first. I always say to my kids, ‘No, I’m not here to be your best friend – I’m here to actually be the person who is your rock.’”
Partying in a wig
Of going to parties in disguise, Nicole told Vogue, “Dinner at 10.30pm, club at 1am. I’ll put on glasses. Sometimes I’ll wear a wig to hide – a little dark wig – and then I can just dance.”
‘Beyond Lonely’ win
Winning her Best Actress Oscar for The Hours in 2003 was a wake-up call for the “beyond lonely” star, who’d just split from hubby Tom, now 64. She recalls thinking, “I’ve got to get a life!”
Throwing away her career for LOVE
When she married Tom at age 23, the romantic actress told naysayers, “Of course I’ll throw my career away for love. I don’t care.” Luckily for Nicole, her star has only risen since then!
Death doula
After her beloved mum Janelle passed away at age 84 in 2024, Nicole said she noticed how lonely the process can be and that she’s since decided she’ll train to be a “death doula”.
