Brooklyn Beckham has reportedly been left “totally freaked out” following his sister’s attempt to visit him at his home in Los Angeles while he was away, accusing his family of staging a photo opportunity in order to force a reconciliation.
Fourteen-year-old Harper was photographed arriving at her eldest brother’s Beverly Hills home during the Beckhams’ US visit for the unveiling of David’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, just moments later, she was seen leaving the property looking downcast when Brooklyn, 27, didn’t come to the door. She’s said to have left behind a handwritten letter
While some may view it as a heartbreaking attempt at extending an olive branch, Brooklyn – who was out jogging in New York at the time of the visit – reportedly believes it was all a stunt.
A fresh family feud erupts
“That photographers were in place as the letter was hand-delivered says it all,” insists a rep for Brooklyn.
“This was choreographed for the cameras.”
Friends add that the visit has left Brooklyn “fuming” at his parents, particularly his mum Victoria, 52. He’s blaming Posh for what he describes as “dirty and manipulative tactics” that have left any lingering hopes for a family reunion totally in tatters.
Missing his little sister
“If he’d been home, of course, he would have let his little sister in,” says one pal.
“He adores her and misses her terribly. “It was heartbreaking to see photos of her turning up at his house and him not being there. To say he’s upset is a huge understatement. “It’s impossible for Brooklyn not to assume this was set up by his mother to try to force the issue, but it’s only made him more determined to keep his distance from his parents. “He says he can’t trust their motives or that anything will ever be private, so he’s better off staying out of contact.”
Friends of the Beckhams have since come out to strongly deny allegations of a set-up.
Harper caught in the crossfire
“It’s incredibly sad that this horrible accusation is being levelled at an innocent young girl who just desperately misses her brother,” tells a family insider.
“Nothing needed to be said at all, so to invent this nasty accusation is really unnecessary.”
Brooklyn reportedly fears for his little sister as she gets ready to take her first step into showbiz with her own beauty brand, Hiku. Separate sources tell us that he sees deep parallels between Harper’s new line and Posh’s own image, and he’s worried she’s too young to realise what’s really going on.
Following Mum’s lead
“Brooklyn is weirded out by the way his mum seems to be hellbent on turning Harper into this mini-me version of herself,” says one spy.
“It’s obvious to him that she’s positioning Harper to be a future fashion mogul and styling her like a virtual clone of herself. “For Brooklyn, this is creepy and wrong. Harper isn’t getting a chance to be her own person or create her own identity.”
