Any hopes for reconciliation in the Beckham family feud were dashed when Brooklyn dropped a bombshell six-page statement detailing years of grievances against his famous parents.
He sensationally declared, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
It was a shock for Sir David, 50, but even more so for Lady Victoria, 51, who was the target of Brooklyn’s more headline-grabbing accusations.
A source tells, “Victoria is on the floor, shocked to pieces that her son would do this. Everyone is in shock. But Victoria is totally in pieces over this.”
While David and Victoria are still deciding how to respond to this attack, the Daily Mail’s show business consultant editor Katie Hind says that whatever detractors of the family say, the one thing they agree on “is that they are brilliant, loving parents who would do absolutely anything for their children”.
We explore the 26-year-old’s more damning claims…
Victoria ‘hijacked’ the first dance
Brooklyn says Victoria hijacked his first dance, and “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life”.
In the days after their 2022 nuptials, anonymous gossip site Deuxmoi published a similar claim, explaining how singer Marc Anthony – a longtime friend of the Beckhams who performed at the wedding – “dedicated a song to VB and Brooklyn, which set Nicola [Peltz] off. She literally ran out crying”.
However, the Vogue US account tells a different story.
They describe how “Brooklyn invited his mum on stage for a dance”.
Whatever the truth is, Brooklyn says they decided to renew their vows last year “so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment”.

Dressgate
From the moment Nicola, 31, walked down the aisle in her Valentino gown, seemingly snubbing her designer mother-in-law, it was clear that something was rotten in the state of Denmark.
In the months after their wedding, Nicola dispelled rumours of a dress-based feud, stating that she planned to wear a Victoria Beckham gown, but her atelier realised they couldn’t do it.
Now Brooklyn has walked back this friendly story and tells, “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
However, a previous interview with Vogue contradicts this, as Nicola described her eventual wedding dress as a “year’s worth of conversations” with Valentino and “the ultimate couture experience”.
Trademark bribe
In the emotional lead-up to his big day, Brooklyn also claims his parents “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my names, which would have affected me, my wife and our future children”.
It has come to light that Victoria has taken out trademarks on the names of Brooklyn and his siblings Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14. But according to brand and culture expert Nick Ede, this is not intended to control or monetise their image, instead, “trademarks are often put in place early on to safeguard future opportunities and avoid third-party exploitation”.
He adds, “What may be intended as protection can feel like pressure when trust and communication breaks down, which this certainly feels like it has.”

David’s 50th birthday snub
The family maintained a tenuous truce in 2024, with Brooklyn and Nicola making appearances at several family events, even celebrating Christmas together. It was clear by Brooklyn’s absence at David’s numerous birthday events last year that the peace was over.
In his statement, the former photographer says he travelled to London during the celebrations and hoped to spend time with his father privately, away from the cameras, but was repeatedly rejected.
Eventually, a meet-up was approved, but “it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face”.
Brand Beckham above all else
Perhaps the most damning accusation from Brooklyn is that the Beckhams’ public persona as a tight-knit family is all a part of “Brand Beckham”.
He claims, “My family values public promotion and endorsement above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo op.”
Brooklyn ended the explosive statement saying, “The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”
