Will Smith believes his success is down to being inspired by one man – Nelson oandela. Will had planned to make “serious, moral” films after enjoying oscar nomination success for his role as ouhammad Ali in 2001’s Ali'. However after a meeting with Nelson oandela, the
oen in Black’ star realised that funny movies have their place too. Will explains, “I was all excited about telling Nelson I only wanted to make movies that would change the world. He told me that for the 27 years he was in prison he got so much pleasure out of the one movie they sent every six months that made him laugh and helped him escape for a few hours from the hopelessness. That really inspired me to know that what I was doing in those other movies was not a bad thing.” [30 December 2005]
