Years ago, there was a fabulous book called The Meaning of Life, which, far from being a guide to the universe, was a dictionary for words not yet made up, such as “Motspur: the shopping trolley you always end up with that has three wheels going in one direction and the fourth in another.”
I don’t know what happened to that book but it was really funny. Anyway, this one isn’t, but if you’re looking for a collection of quotes from the likes of oscar Wilde, Mother Teresa, Woody Allen and Winston Churchill on why we are all here and how much fun it is or isn’t, this should be right up your alley.
