The new lead character in the Bourne series, Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner, at times feels like an imposter. Taking over from original star Matt Damon, who played Jason Bourne, Jeremy faces a tough task, but the fourth instalment proves there’s still life in this spy-thriller franchise. Triggered by the events of the last Bourne film, Aaron, who’s being groomed to be a master spy, finds himself on the government’s hit list. After brilliant turns in The Hurt Locker and The Town, it’s great to see Jeremy in a lead action role – although, it would have been nice to see what he could have done had the script allowed his character some much-needed vulnerability.
