She dreamed a dream and now Susan Boyle is set to sing for the Pope himself. The Scottish talent show star has been confirmed as the official entertainment for Pope Benedict XVI when he visits her home country next month.
A spokesman says the Catholic church has been negotiating with the singing phenomenon for months and Susan is now confirmed to perform three times throughout the Pope’s visit, accompanied by an 800-strong choir.
“To be able to sing for the Pope is a great honor and something I’ve always dreamed of – it’s indescribable,” says Susan, a lifelong Catholic. “I’ve always wanted to sing for His Holiness and I can’t really put into words my happiness that this wish has come true at last.”
The talented singer plans to sing her signature tune, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, as well as ‘How Great Thou Art’ and a farewell song yet to be named.
