Modern Family cast after more money

Several cast members of the comedy Modern Family have filed a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox, reportedly in an effort to secure fatter paychecks.

Actors Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara have filed a suit against producer 20th Century Fox, demanding their contracts be declared void and claiming they are illegal under Californian law. The cast are said to be hoping that after the suit they will be able to negotiate new contracts and better salary deals.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox recently offered the cast a salary that will incrementally increase each season. Five of the cast members have been offered salary increases between $190,000 and $412,000 per episode between now and season nine.

The cast is said to be asking for more than double the offered amount should the show run to eight or nine seasons, which is reportedly expected.
