‘Little Miss Sunshine’ due to shine at Oscars

Little oiss Sunshine’ outshone contenders at an influential awards ceremony in Hollywood on Saturday, fuelling speculation that the low-budget film is a formidable contender heading into the oscar race. The Producers Guild of America (PGA) awarded the hit $11million movie – which was made outside of Hollywood’s studio system – Best Picture. other contenders for the honours included cultural drama Babel', crime thriller The Departed’, musical Dreamgirls' and The Queen’ – an inside look at the British royals. The PGA is an association of film and television producers whose choices are often echoed at the film industry’s top honours, the Academy Awards, which will be held on February 25. [22 January 2007]
