Kate and Wills’ French getaway

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William had once last chance for a little relaxation before heading off on the first leg of their tour to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Kate and Wills have escaped to the idyllic Chateau d’Autet in Provence, France. A historic hunting lodge with a heated swimming pool and a tennis court, the property is owned by the Queen’s nephew Viscount Linley.

Surrounded by fields of lavender and 260ha of woodland, the 19th century building offered the couple a few days of privacy before they began travelling to Singapore where they are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will no doubt have appreciated a few days of privacy in the idyllic spot which is close to the medieval village of Viens, following a busy few weeks of public appearances for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. And when the pair arrive in Singapore it’ll be back to work once more.

The couple are set to visit the country’s famed Botanic Gardens where an orchid will be named in their honour, as well as the special needs community centre. They will travel on to Malaysia on September 13 where Kate is expected to make a speech, before heading to Honiara in the Solomon Islands on September 16, and the island of Tuvalu on September 18.
