Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Based on the true story of British widower Benjamin Mee – who uprooted his family to purchase a zoo in Devon – there’s more than meets the eye to this family movie. Cute fuzzy animals are certainly a big feature, but stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and youngster Colin Form transform this from an animal tale to a story about grief and new beginnings.
Director Cameron Crowe has adapted the story to suit a US audience and although some scenes are clumsy, it’s still very moving.
Rating: 3/5.
