Crocodile hunter Steve Irwin’s wife Terri is already terrified at the effect the hero’s death will have on their children. Steve’s two-and-a-half-year-old son Robert has already been wandering around sobbing “Where’s Daddy?” since the wildlife expert’s tragic stingray death last week. His distraught widow is terrified at having to bring up Robert and their daughter Bindi (8) alone. Terri’s mother Julia Raines says the widow knows “it’s going to be hard being the only parent”. She added: “You depend on the other person more than you realise, and she’s having a hard time with that. “She added: “Robert asks, ‘Where Daddy?’ because he’s only two, but Bindi has been a big help to Terri. She’s been her rock.” Meanwhile, Steve’s family have decided to hold a private funeral within a week and a public memorial service in two weeks, with thousands expected. Steve’s father, Bob, said on Thursday that only family and close friends would attend the private service, confirming that the “generous government offer” of a state funeral had been turned down.Bob says that his son wouldn’t have wanted a formal state funeral because “he’s an ordinary guy, and he wants to be remembered as an ordinary bloke.”
