Colin Farrell: my sons saved my life

Actor Colin Farrell talks about changing his health habits.

Colin Farrell says his sons James (9) and Henry (2) saved his life. “What my first son James did was allow me to care for something in this world when I couldn’t care for myself. James saved my life,” says Colin. Colin’s eldest son, who he fathered with US model Kim Bordenave suffers from the intellectual disability, Angelman syndrome, while Henry’s mother is actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś who Colin split from a year after Henry was born.

Colin admits that a couple of years ago he couldn’t even run 2km, but now thanks to new health and fitness regime inspired by his sons, he is fitter than ever – although he’s conscious of becoming obsessive with his health.

“I [used to] put an enormous amount of energy into the destruction of my body and if I put the same amount into treating my body in a positive way, that too would end up being a sickness.”

But a few old habits still die hard. Colin, who is appearing in the film Total Recall, says he hasn’t managed to curb his potty mouth, which his kids are starting to emulate.
