Gymnasts often pull off amazing flips, twists and turns during their routines, but one athlete in particular has shot to viral fame thanks to a crowd-pleasing combination of tumbling skills and hip-hop moves.
UCLA gymnast Sophina DeJesus brought the house down over the weekend with her inventive floor routine, which saw her whip, nae nae and perform other hip-hop moves in between awe-inspiring tumbles.
Her powerful performance earned plenty of cheers from the audience, which immediately began demanding a score of 10 for Sophina (the judges eventually awarded her 9.925 points).
The routine has prompted an equally positive reaction online, where a Facebook video of Sophina’s efforts has been shared over 440,000 times.
“I love dancing,” Sophina said of her decision to add in the moves.
“I wanted to end my senior year with a bang.”
