Aaron Schuurman and Sade Peel had never laid eyes on each other before she walked down the aisle at the Rydges Hotel Rooftop Terrace this morning, looking gorgeous in a strapless ivory gown and matching veil.

It was the perfect setting, with fresh flowers everywhere and a crowd of well-wishers waiting to see the couple make it official – but their wedding day was also the first time Aaron and Sade had ever met.

The two were brought together by radio station The Edge as part of their ‘Strangers and a Wedding’ competition, which arranges for two people to tie the knot without ever having seen each other beforehand.

It might not be the way most couples get hitched, but the success rate of The Edge’s arranged marriage scheme is pretty hard to argue with!

This is the fourth time the station has played matchmaker for a married couple, and the previous three (Paula and Zane Nicholl, Steve and Kersha Veix and Chantelle and Paul Court) are all still together today, with children.

The new Mr and Mrs Schuurman may not know each other yet, but with a honeymoon in Hawaii beckoning and a lifetime to spend together, there’s certainly plenty of time for them to get better acquainted!
