If you enjoy a flavourful, protein-packed shake, powder or supplement, you’ve probably heard of The Collagen Co., the brand behind the viral Collagen Glow Shakes.

Available in 12 mouth-watering flavours, including Cookies & Cream, Iced Coffee Milkshake, and Violet Crumble, they’re essentially meal-replacement shakes designed to help you feel fuller for longer.

Personally, I love that there are so many different Glow Shake flavours, and it turns out that there’s a good reason for that too.

“If a product feels repetitive, it becomes much harder to stay consistent,” explains Millie Padula, The Collagen Co’s Resident Dietitian & Nutritionist.

The Collagen Co. x Streets collaboration is inspired by two classic Australian ice creams.

My partner and I are already big fans of the Glow Shakes, and Violet Crumble is a favourite in our house. We were keen to try two newer flavours from the Collagen Co.’s collaboration with Streets Ice Cream: Weis Mango & Ice Cream and Splice Pine Lime, both inspired by nostalgic Aussie treats.

Below, check out my verdict on the Collagen Co. Glow Shakes and whether they were worth it.

Disclaimer: As per the label instructions, you should replace no more than 2 meals a day with the Collagen Co. Glow Shakes, and, as always, consult a health professional before adding a new supplement to your diet.

How I prepare my Collagen Glow Shakes:

First things first, you add one scoop (provided) of the powder to chilled water, milk, or your favourite milk alternative. Then, you use a shaker, whizz stick, or blender to whip up your drink.

I found the Collagen Co.’s shaker vessel worked really well, and I was happy with the deliciously thick, smoothie-like result. Pour into a taller glass or drinks tumbler for easy transportation if you’re using two full scoops.

The Glow Shakes are simple to make. Add two scoops, shake well, and pour into your chosen vessel.

My hot tip? The longer you shake, the thicker the consistency.

Incorporating the Glow Shakes into my daily routine:

The supplement can be used as a meal replacement, which I’ve tried on busy mornings and found really effective. People who love a sweet breakfast will especially enjoy it.

Although I’d take the Glow Shakes before lunchtime, I found they helped to beat the dreaded 3pm slump during the workday.

Personally, I preferred making a smaller serve (one scoop only) as a snack, because I naturally gravitate towards savoury foods rather than sweet ones. However, if you want to sip on something sweet throughout the day, you can pour a double batch (four scoops + water) of your Glow Shake into a pitcher or jug and store in the fridge.

My partner isn’t big on breakfast and starts work very early, so he takes a Glow Shake to work as a late breakfast. It keeps him going through the morning and saves him from his usual morning tea pit stop for a pie and an energy drink.

My verdict: Do the Collagen Co. Glow Shakes really work? What do they taste like?

Before trying the Glow Shakes, I was sceptical that they would be filling enough to replace a meal.

However, I was wrong; they genuinely kept me fuller for longer and curbed my cravings. It felt like I tricked myself into treating myself to something indulgent while sticking to my goals.

Turning to the taste, I hadn’t tried the classic Weis Mango & Ice Cream and Splice Pine Lime in dessert form before. Personally, the mango concoction was my favourite. If you love a sweet, tropical-flavoured smoothie, this is the one for you. Pine Lime is great if you prefer something a little less sweet and more tangy.

However, I still can’t recommend the Violet Crumble flavour enough. It tastes exactly like the chocolate bar!

The Violet Crumble Glow Shake really does taste like the original honeycomb chocolate bar!

Also, if you’re partial to a cheeky frappe, I reckon you’ll enjoy the Iced Coffee Milkshake flavour.

Are there any cons to taking the Glow Shakes?

It depends on how you look at it, but the inclusion of MCTs (which help support sustained energy) meant I’d consume my glow shake earlier in the day rather than later, so it didn’t interfere with my sleep.

Would I repurchase the Glow Shakes or recommend them to others?

If you’re busy, hate meal prep and want to keep your daily calorie intake under control, they’re a great solution.

The Glow Shakes genuinely kept me fuller for longer and curbed my cravings. It felt like I tricked myself into treating myself to something indulgent while sticking to my goals.

What’s the difference between the Glow Shakes and other meal-replacement supplements?

What sets the Glow Shakes apart from traditional meal-replacement supplements are their bonus beauty benefits. Per serving, the Glow Shakes contain 17.5g of Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides to support improved skin, hair and nail health, plus 29 grams of protein to boost your daily nutrient intake.

I also didn’t find the powder-water blend too grainy or gluggy, and I like that the powder is made with natural colours, flavours and sweeteners (no artificial additives).

Are the Collagen Co. Glow Shakes worth the price?

Price-wise, I think the collagen meal replacements are worth it if you’re time-poor, trying to manage calorie intake, and usually rely on convenience meals.

The Glow Shakes retail at $89 per pack (14 full serves, or 28 if you do half serves as snacks). So, if you have two shakes a day, you’ll go through one tin in a week.

The Glow Shakes retail at $89 per pack, but there are plenty of bundle deals so you can save.

There are also a variety of bundle deals which allow you to choose multiple flavours for a set duration, and reduce the price by around 20%.

Some of the bundles include a Collagen Co. shaker (rrp $25), which I highly recommend to ensure a smooth, creamy consistency every time (there’s a stainless steel version, rrp $49, too).

If you want to try both of the ice-cream-inspired flavours, you can purchase the Streets Ice Cream Bundle for $182.70 (was $203).

What are the 12 different flavours in the Collagen Co. Glow Shakes range?

Where can you buy the Glow Shakes in New Zealand?

Kiwis can shop the full collagen meal replacement range from the Collagen Co. website. Shipping in New Zealand is free if you spend $100 or more. Otherwise, it’s $10.

If you happen to be travelling to Australia, you can also buy select Collagen Co. products in-store at Chemist Warehouse.
