Swimsuit Countdown

It’s time to tackle your body’s trouble spots so you’ll be ready for the beach this summer. While it’s reassuring to note that even a Hollywood goddess like J-Lo suffers from dreaded cellulite, does that make us feel any better about our own dimpled bits? Well, no, not really.

The alien lumpy fat that afflicts our thighs and buttocks is caused by all sorts of things: hormones, poor circulation, bad diet, stress, not enough exercise, even wearing tight clothes and high-heeled shoes! If you touch the skin in areas where you have cellulite, you’ll notice it is colder than elsewhere on your body. That’s why so many cosmetic remedies are warming and aim to boost circulation and eliminate fatty deposits. It’s also why massage or body-brushing is recommended.

There are some great new products out there, but to really deal with the problem, lifestyle changes are a must.

So… Replace coffee and fizzy drinks with stimulating ginger herbal tea or try drinking hot water with lemon juice and a few drops of manuka honey. Consume more fibre and less fat, starchy carbohydrates, salt and alcohol. Make sure you get some exercise every day and try not to spend too long sitting in the same position.
