The royal family have confirmed the heartbreaking news that the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, and her husband Mike Tindall have suffered a miscarriage.
The couple announced last month they were expecting their second child, which was due in autumn next year.
The Palace confirmed the sad news.
“Very sadly, Zara and Mike Tindall have lost their baby,” she said.
“At this difficult time, we ask that everyone respects their privacy.”
Messages of support and sympathy have been expressed around the world, including from Tindall’s rugby community.
The Glouchester Rugby Club, where he played for almost 10 years, expressed their sadness at the news on Twitter.
The couple are already parents to two-year-old Mia.
