Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter Princess Eugenie has announced she’s launching a podcast, a first for the British royal family.

The aim of the podcast, titled Freedom United is to raise awareness about modern day slavery as part of the work the Princess has been doing as part of her charity, The Anti-Slavery Collective, which she co-founded with her best friend Julia De Boinville.

In a video shared to the Anti-Slavery Collective’s Instagram, Eugenie, 29, explains: “We are developing a podcast, Freedom United, and we will have a speaker series called ‘Tech Tackles Trafficking’.

“Now is the time to talk about this, this is on everyone’s minds. And if it isn’t, we will make it on their mind.”

Adding: “We are doing this for the person who can’t scream and shout like we can, for the women, girls, men, children all over the world.”

Explaining why the two friends decided to found the collective Julia says: “There’s an estimated 40.3 million slaves in the world today – that’s the greatest number at any point in history.”

Eugenie adds modern slavery is a hidden crime that can include “forced labour, forced marriage, domestic servitude, it’s people not being paid correctly…”

“We witnessed first-hand how many amazing charities there are in the UK and beyond who are doing such phenomenal work so we thought, how can we highlight the work they’re doing and raise awareness, so with that we launched the Anti-Slavery Collective,” Julia says.

“The Anti-Slavery Collective’s mission is to bring people together,” adds Eugenie.

“Because together we’re so much more powerful and we can affect serious change and if we can do that and get people working on the same thing and sharing information and sharing what their best practices are, then we can make a real difference.”

While other royals have appeared on podcasts previously, Princess Eugenie will be the very first royal to launch her own.

While Princess Eugenie isn’t a full-time working royal like her cousins Prince William and Prince Harry, however she still attends several royal engagements and is patron of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital which she juggles with her full time job as director at contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

Princess Eugenie is also one of the only members of the royal family who has their own personal Instagram account, often sharing personal photographs of her and family and husband Jack Brooksbank – she’s also a huge fan of ‘Throwback Thursday’ and ‘Flashback Friday’.

Since her marriage to Jack Brooksbank last year in October, many fans have been speculating when the pair may announce they’re expecting their first child, which only spiked when one particular photo of the Princess attending Royal Ascot earlier this year appeared to show her holding a gentle hand over her belly.

However earlier this week her mother, Sarah Ferguson, has put the rumours to bed, vehemently saying “no, she not pregnant!” during a video shared to Twitter.
